American mixed martial artist Jonathan King had a horrifying experience during just his second fight. King, who was ranked ninth in the Louisiana light heavyweight, fought Chris Williams on the card of American Kombat Alliance’s Rite of Passage 6 at the Horseshoe Casino Riverdome in Louisiana. However, the fight came to a brutal end in the very first round when King suffered a broken leg while attempting a low kick. The referee stopped the fight and called for medical attention, with Williams awarded the victory by TKO.

The injury suffered by King was eerily reminiscent of the one sustained by UFC great Anderson Silva, who broke his leg while fighting Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December 2013. American Kombat Alliance confirmed that King broke both his fibula and tibia in his right leg but had undergone successful surgery. They also mentioned that he was expected to start physical therapy soon and should be cleared to travel home in the coming week. King also took to his Facebook account from his hospital bed to thank fans for their support and to express his plans for a full comeback once he recovers.

It's important to note that King's recovery will be long and exhausting, as it took Anderson Silva 13 months to return to the UFC after his injury. However, Silva has since fought four times without a recurrence of the injury.
