John Saxon is an Italian American born in 1936 in New York.
His real name is Carmine Orrico but he was known in Cinema by the name John Saxon.
Most of the martial arts community know him for his important role with Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon, that was released in 1973.
The name of John in the film was Roper and he was about 37 years old.
Bruce Lee did chose him for the role Roper after he saw him performing in a Karate demonstration in mid sixties in University.
John Saxon started martial arts journey in Judo, but he did it for a short time before moving to Shotokan Karate and train under his master Sense Nishiyama.
John started martial arts at the age of 21,and he always saw himself as an actor before a martial artist, this is what he told Bruce Lee when they had a discussion at Bruce's home in 1973.
John Saxon was admired by martial arts fans even if his level in martial arts can not be compared to Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris or others who appeared with Bruce Lee.
What most people do not know is that John Saxon has done more than 200 projects in western and horror movies.
John Saxon Saxon died yesterday July 25th of pneumonia in Tennessee aged 84 years old.
