Kyukpa, also known as breaking, is a common element in Taekwondo demonstrations and competitions. It involves breaking objects such as boards, bricks, or tiles using various hand and foot techniques.
Breaking in Taekwondo serves several purposes. One of the main reasons for breaking is to demonstrate the power and precision of the practitioner's techniques. By breaking a solid object, the practitioner is able to show that their strikes are both strong and accurate. It also helps to build confidence and mental focus, as breaking requires a high level of concentration and control.
In addition to being a demonstration of skill, breaking is also used as a training tool. By practicing breaking techniques, practitioners can improve their power, speed, and accuracy. Breaking can also help develop proper technique and body mechanics, as well as increase the practitioner's understanding of the principles of Taekwondo.
Breaking is often included in belt tests and competitions in Taekwondo. Practitioners are typically required to break boards or other objects as part of their test to demonstrate their skill level. In competitions, breaking is judged on factors such as power, technique, and difficulty of the break.
Overall, breaking is an important and exciting aspect of Taekwondo that helps to showcase the power, precision, and skill of the practitioner. It requires training, focus, and dedication to master, but the rewards of breaking are well worth the effort.
Kyukpa is one of the most important parts of Taekwondo, and it is practiced in many ways and also by breaking different objects, including wood, bricks, ice..
In the old days of Taekwondo Many athletes would prefer to break bricks or ice to show off their power and strength, but these days the kyukpa is more about the beautiful technique of kicks, and the object is thin wood in general because the main objective is to demonstrate the kicking technique, which is most of the time composed of jumping kicks.
This guy here is trying to break these bricks but he fails to touch them.
Let's watch this 😳
