Benson Henderson, born on November 16, 1983, is a former American professional mixed martial artist who last competed in the Lightweight division for Bellator MMA. He is a former UFC Lightweight Champion and WEC Lightweight Champion.

Henderson was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to a Korean mother and an African American father. He and his older brother attained black belts in Tae Kwon Do at the urging of their mother to embrace their cultural heritage. He attended Decatur High School where he was a part of the wrestling team. Henderson then went on to attend Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, graduating in 2006 with a criminal justice and sociology double major, while also being a part of the wrestling team and earning NAIA All-American honors twice.

Henderson turned professional in 2006 and had early success with a win in his first match, followed by a minor setback in his third fight. However, he rebounded with four straight wins and then faced a UFC veteran, Diego Saraiva, whom he dominated for three rounds and emerged victorious.

Frankie Edgar is a retired American mixed martial artist who competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Lightweight and Featherweight divisions before moving down to the Bantamweight division in 2020. Edgar, who was born on October 16, 1981, had a successful amateur wrestling background and wrestled for Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He has predominantly Italian ancestry and some German ancestry as well.

Edgar began his mixed martial arts career with only a few weeks of training outside of his wrestling background. He trained with the Gracie system under Ricardo Almeida and was part of the Gracie Barra team. He notably won his first fight against Tyson Griffin at UFC 67 and continued to have success in the UFC with notable victories over Mark Bocek and Spencer Fisher. He also had a series of fights with Gray Maynard, rebounding with a Fight of the Night victory against Hermes Franca at UFC Fight Night 14.

Throughout his career, Edgar was known for his perseverance and determination, most notably in his fight against Tyson Griffin, where he refused to tap despite being caught in a deep kneebar. His fighting style and resilience earned him a reputation as a tough and skilled fighter in the UFC.
