It seems WTF will do anything to keep Taekwondo in the Olympics, including these colored pants :)
The WTF President Choue said
Dr. Chungwon , the Korea Times , who is aware that " the relentless
pursuit of change is the only way to keep the sport alive and on the Olympic
stage. In the World Federation we are not afraid to face the changes . If we
had been afraid of the changes , taekwondo and would have disappeared from the
Olympic Games. However , taekwondo has become an Olympic sport core, because we
have been making continuous efforts over the years to make the sport more fun
and popular. Thanks to these efforts , there are now more than 80 million
taekwondo practitioners worldwide . And so, we will introduce a revamped
version of Taekwondo in the next Olympic Games in Rio , " Choue said.
The changes referred to the
president of the WTF are as follows :
Pants color and choice of
each team (see note) .
Octagonal combat area .
15 female and 15 male
referees , to promote gender equality.
Electronic protective system
Daedo Gen 2 and electronic helmet.
"The main reason we assume these changes is to offer fans of
Taekwondo, more excitement and dynamism. We have learned that any sport that
does not satisfy your viewers and viewers will not survive on the Olympic
stage, "he said. "It is important for us to reflect on those
experiences. We do not know what the Taekwondo in the 2020 Olympics , but since
find it much more interesting " Choue concluded .
With regard to this last
point : the technology, the president of Taekwondo, said : " As we did in
London 2012 , with the introduction of electronic scoring , this time we will
use more technology to increase equity and accuracy in competitions. Athletes competed
in London carrying sensors impact on their bibs and socks only. In Rio, add
electronic sensors in helmets, " Choue said.

ReplyDeletethe challenge is today's cut and makes the sport more sliced.
We are witness to look at two performers engaged in "Battle Snake" in the ring. Tvins legs around each other
Defense against the cut is an art piece. It gets far too little appreciated.
Too get changes we should give turn kicks 5 points. Make it more exclusive to try out against the cut. This would change the use of the cut. And get more action
How about we get rid of the cut kick as a scoring technique altogether. This bullshit front leg fencing is making Taekwondo the laughing stock of both the martial arts world and the Olympic games.
