Taekwondo vs Kyokushin Knock down

For most people who are not into martial arts, Taekwondo and Karate are the same thing, but martial artists can make a difference between the two.

Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art originated from Japan, and has a lot of different styles. Kyokushin Karate is one of those styles, and it is a very tough style and a full contact sparring martial art, it was created by the South Korean named later Mass Oyama and who lived in Japan.

Kyokushin fighters are good at using low and head kicks, punches and they are mostly strong physically.

In the other hand, we have Taekwondo that is originated from South Korea and went through many changes since its creation in 1950s, at the early days it was closer as a style to Karate, because most Korean grand masters at the time had a big influence from Japanese grand masters such as Gechin Funakushi who founded the modern Shotokan Karate.

The big changed occurred on Taekwondo after becoming an Olympic sport, and the more the World Taekwondo creates rules, the more changes happen to the style.

Some Taekwondo practitioners say that Taekwondo became softer and turned into s pure sport instead of a martial art.

The bad part is that many athletes who practice the modern Taekwondo are not good when they fight against different styles such as Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai etc...  does this mean that Taekwondo is a weak martial art? the simple answer is big NO.

The way the athletes train today is very different than the old days, they focus now on scoring points instead of power and efficiency.

We came across this video of a fight between Taekwondo and Kyokushin karate, the two athletes were both good and their level was too close in both kicks and punches, but after six minutes of the fight, the Kyukoshin fighter ended the fight by a knock down after performing an uppercut towards the Taekwondo fighter.

Let's watch the fight
