What is the World Taekwondo Hanmadang?

The Hanmadang festival  was held for the first time in December 9, 1992, in order to promote Taekwondo and unify the global Taekwondo family, to develop the self defence skills, and to promote the spirit of practitioners.

Hanmadang festival is a good opportunity for taekwondo practitioners to visit Korea, and also learn about its culture, including Taekwondo as the national valuable tradition. 

This event gathers the taekwondo family to freshen the Martial art, by giving a chance to practitioners who come from every corner of the world to be more creative and show the result of their hard work.

The Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Academy) organizes the World Taekwondo Hanmadang every year, and its competition include three of the most important parts of Taekwondo, which are Poomsae, Breaking and Self defense.

Hanmadang Festival is the best mirror for taekwondo as a martial art, because it shows and highlights the impressive techniques and skills of taekwondo.

Can anyone participate in this contest?

Yes any Taekwondo practitioner can register in this competition, and no national qualification needed, so all what you need to do is to register your team.

Hanmdang Referees:

What are the requirements to be qualified to be a Hanmdang Referee?

First, there are three Hanmdang referee categories, The first class, 

the second class and the third class.

now let's talk about each one requirements.

the first class:

1- the candidate should hold a kukkiwon 9th Dan Certificate

2- the candidate should hold the first class Instructor Certificate

                OR 

1- the candidate should hold a kukkiwon 9th Dan Certificate

2- the candidate should hold Instructor Certificate prior 1996

The second class:

1- the candidate should hold a kukkiwon 8th Dan Certificate

2- the candidate should hold the second class Instructor Certificate

The third Class:

1-  the candidate should hold a kukkiwon 7th Dan Certificate

2- the candidate should hold the third class Instructor Certificate

Then there is a graduation Certificate for those who did not meet the requirements above,

Requirements for participation are:

             1- holding the Kukkiwon 5th or the 6th Dan Certificate

             2- holding the the third class instructor certificate

Those who got this graduation certificate will be qualified with the Hanmadang referee Certificate

through the test later when they get the Kukkiwon 7th Dan Certificate.

This Taekwondo contest is ruled or organized by th Kukkiwon, not by WTF (World Taekwondo Federation).
